There has been a lot of buzz around Edge’s wrestling future in recent weeks, as he seemingly wrestled his last match for the company on last week’s SmackDown show.
Edge picked up the win against Sheamus in singles action, which was said to be the last match on his WWE contract.
Edge’s contract with the company is said to expire at the of September according to Edge himself, and there have been a lot of questions about whether he would re-sign with the company, leave to join AEW, or retire altogether.
In an update from PWTorch, there is now a lot of buzz that Edge (Adam Copeland) could be headed to AEW.
Per PWTorch, Copeland presented to WWE what it would take to keep him around, but WWE declined to meet his request.
This has sparked belief within the company that he is probably headed to AEW, and that he knew at the time what AEW could offer him.
The report noted Tony Khan is a big fan of Edge, and he would certainly value adding him to the roster, whether as a wrestler or in some other role.
Despite this, Edge received a big celebration of his WWE career on last week’s SmackDown, as he is well liked within the company, and management doesn’t resent the possibility that he could go to AEW.
