A who’s who of the British wrestling scene will be part of the roster for the new ITV WOS Wrestling series.
WOS Wrestling is revealing its stars just days after the above trailer emerged for the upcoming UK wrestling show on one of the nation’s most-viewed channels.
The stacked roster will include New Japan standout and former WWE star Davey Boy Smith Jnr, son of the late, great British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith. He looks to be going under the name of ‘British Bulldog Junior’, according to the WOS Facebook page.
‘The Aerial Assassin’ Will Ospreay, former IWGP Jnr Heavyweight Champion, is also part of the roster.
Stu Bennett, formerly known as Wade Barrett and Bad News Barrett in WWE, will be the new WOS Executive as well as part of a three-person commentary team with former IMPACT Wrestling personality So Cal Val and long-time UK wrestling performer, pioneer, champion and commentator Alex Shane.
Shane was part of the commentary team, alongside Jim Ross, for the pilot edition of WOS which aired on ITV1 on New Year’s Eve 2016.
‘The Prestigious One’ Joe Hendry, the multi-talented champion professional and amateur wrestler, former 5 Star Wrestling commentator, and musician who has also newly-signed for IMPACT and is famed for his work with ICW, Defiant, NGW and other UK promotions, will be part of the wrestling roster on the show.
UK scene regular Martin Kirby, former Love Island reality star Adam ‘Flex’ Maxted and former TNA British Boot Camp finalist Kay Lee Ray have also been confirmed.
A trailer for the programme features other stars including the reigning WOS Champion Grado (who won the title on the December 31 2016 show), Sha Samuels, Rampage Brown, CJ Banks, Justin ‘The Hammer’ Sysum, Iestyn Rees, Kip Sabian, Viper, Bea Priestley, Gabriel Kidd and ‘The Amazon’ Ayesha Raymond, as well as the masked ‘Monster’ Crater, who is better known on the UK scene as Cyanide.
A date for the 10-part series, which was filmed in May at Epic Studios in Norwich, is yet to be confirmed. The series will see weekly wrestling return to ITV for the first time in 30 years.
