Lucha Underground – which has not aired since last year – is in the news again due to contract wranglings with its disgruntled employees.
Last month Fantasma, Ivelisse, Joey Ryan and Kobra Moon were all granted early releases from their LU contracts thanks to a class action lawsuit. This followed years of the group trying to leave the company having signed seven season deals initially. Ivelisse has since turned up at WWE as part of a recent tryout session at the Performance Centre and is widely expected to sign for the promotion.
It has since come to light that Jeff Cobb, Sonny Kiss and Famous B have all sought legal representation to get out of their contracts. Cobb is currently wrestling for ROH and Kiss has signed with AEW, which might become an issue if there is another season of the show.
Impact regular Willie Mack is already having problems with LU, with the promotion threatening to send a cease and desist letter to ROH and the NWA for his appearance at the co-branded Crockett Cup this past weekend. Mack dropped the NWA National Heavyweight Championship to Colt Cabana at that event.
