It has been widely reported that NXT is set to go live on FOX Sports 1 in October in the same time slot as AEW in the hope of drawing some fans away from the TNT show.
However, according to a new report from the ever-reliable PWInsider, there has been “no indication made to anyone internally” that NXT is going live or expanding to two hours.
The report added that, if the rumours are true, then any plans are “being kept extremely close to the vest”.
Of course, something as big as a new, two hour long, live TV show would probably be something only discussed by the top people at WWE, but it’s interesting that nothing is being talked about openly less than two months before AEW debuts.
Perhaps WWE is so keen on not making AEW feel like competition that they don’t want anyone to know of their plans for the developmental brand.
WWE’s love of killing competition would suggest that NXT will go head to head with AEW when it debuts in October, so you should probably still expect it to happen, even if it’s not being discussed openly just yet.
