Last night, All Elite Wrestling put on their debut Dynamite TV show on TNT. The show was pretty decent overall.
One of the big surprises on the show was the AEW debut of Jake Hager (former WWE superstar Jack Swagger) after the main event between The Elite and the team of Santana, Ortiz and Chris Jericho.
After the show, AEW boss Tony Khan spoke to the media about a variety of topics, including how long Hager had actually be signed to AEW for:
“Jake’s been signed for like a really long time. Jake has been signed to us for like a really long time now. Jake can clearly keep a secret and so can we. For quite a while now Jake was signed. “It’s something we’ve been planning for.”
Khan then explained that Hager will continue to compete for Bellator despite being signed to AEW:
“He moved his camp to accommodate this, but he is also still in training and he has a good schedule with that. The AEW schedule with Wednesdays allows him to make Wednesday the off day so he can train Friday to Tuesday and that’s what Jake is doing right now.”
This is a pretty exciting signing for AEW. Let’s hope they can get the best out of Hager, something WWE failed to do while he was signed to Vince McMahon’s company.
