Last night, WWE Backstage aired a special show on FS1 featuring Renee Young, Paige, Christian, Booker T and NXT Superstar Finn Balor.
During the show, Balor teased the return of his NJPW Prince Devitt character, while Booker T questioned if Xavier Woods will ever wrestle again after suffering an Achilles injury.
However, possibly the most interesting note from last night’s show was that the company confirmed when John Cena will be making his return to WWE programming.
At the end of the show, Renee Young told fans to tune back into FS1 on November 5th for the official premiere of the show. She also confirmed that Rob Gronkowski and former WWE Champion John Cena will be part of the show.
The clip was shared by the rather entertaining WWE on FOX twitter account.
Thanks for joining us and we'll see you on November 5th with the official premiere of @WWE Backstage on @FS1 with special guests @JohnCena & @RobGronkowski! #WWEBackstage pic.twitter.com/rcUPkyELwz

Cena’s appearance is not expected to lead to a full-time return to either Raw or Smackdown. The company are likely just promoting “Big Match John” to try and get more viewers to watch the premiere show.
I actually quite like the WWE Backstage concept. The show seems more real and sports-like than anything else WWE puts out, so seeing Cena in that environment should be fun.
