Two big championship matches were officially announced for next week’s episode of NXT during tonight’s edition of the show.
Cole defends against Velveteen Dream in a match that was originally set to take place at TakeOver: Tampa on April 4 before that was cancelled.
As such, the rivalry has been going on for a number of weeks now, with the latest development being last week when Velveteen Dream pinned Cole in a tag team match.
In that match, Dream originally teamed with Keith Lee against Cole and Roderick Strong. However, Lee was taken out by Damian Priest and rendered unable to continue, but luckily Dream found backup in Dexter Lumis and they picked up the win.
Dream has been in the news as of late after some serious allegations were made against him of inappropriate interactions with a minor.
Also confirmed for next week is Charlotte Flair defending against Io Shirai after Shirai won a six-woman ladder match a few weeks ago to earn the opportunity.
A video promo aired teasing that Karrion Kross and Scarlett will be on next week’s show, and so will Finn Balor to call out the man who attacked him last week. On top of that, Johnny Gargano will face Dominik Dijakovic.
We will of course have live coverage of next week’s NXT on the site as always.
