Mauro Ranallo has been the voice of NXT for years now and when he missing a show, people notice. Such was the case for this weekend’s NXT Takeover: XXX event. It was the first Takeover event in years that didn’t feature Ranallo’s voice.
It was reported before the event that Ranallo would not be working the show. Instead, Corey Graves made his return to NXT, calling the event in Ranallo’s place. Now, Dave Meltzer has reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Ranallo returned home to British Columbia, Canada for a family issue.
Ranallo had been doing commentary remotely so we will see how long it is untill he rejoins the booth. Hopefully, it is sooner than later.
When Triple H was asked about Ranallo’s absence on the NXT Takeover: XXX conference call, he simply said Ranallo “wasn’t available”. Graves called the action alongside Beth Phoenix and Vic Joseph. Triple H also mentioned that Graves had been asking him to do commentary for NXT for some time prior to the event. He had previously been a commentator for NXT before going up to the main roster in 2016.
