AJ Styles has reflected on his recent NXT appearances, noting that he’d be open to working with Performance Center athletes after his own in-ring retirement.
On Tuesday’s (January 11) episode of NXT, Styles defeated Grayson Waller in singles action. In a backstage interview segment, Styles praised the brand’s locker-room for being eager to learn.
Discussing his potential retirement plans, Styles said:
“I gotta admit, I love being down here. I could see myself, when my career is finally over, coming down here and working with some of these young athletes. The men and women here are ready and eager to learn, and I think that’s a positive thing for the WWE going forward.”
Following the match, Styles brought out a returning LA Knight, who fought Waller off before posing with Styles to end the show. Styles and Knight addressed the crowd after the cameras stopped rolling, which you can read about at this link.
Only wrestling for NXT once so far in 2022, Styles is currently undefeated on the developmental brand. Stay up to date with WWE NXT win/loss records for 2022 at this link. WWE reportedly has big plans for Styles on the main roster, following his split from Omos.
