A popular independent wrestling company previously run by a current WWE star has been brought back to life.
Attack Pro Wrestling was created in 2011 by Pete Dunne (now better known as Butch in WWE) and the ring announcer Jim Lee.
Dunne would take over ownership of the company in 2012 with shows being managed by a number of British wrestlers, including Mark Andrews and Chris Brookes.
It would close down in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic taking away the ability of wrestling companies in the UK to run shows and due to Pete Dunne’s commitment to WWE.
On Saturday 21st 2023, an event took place in Cardiff entitled “Mark Andrews’ Super Secret Birthday Bash” at Cathays Community Centre, the long-serving home to Attack Pro Wrestling.
Towards the start of the birthday celebration, Andrews announced that Attack was back.
In the current Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), Dave Meltzer wrote:
“Attack Pro Wrestling, which had been run by Pete Dunne, Mark Andrews and Chris Brookes and hasn’t had a show since the pandemic, reopened on 1/21 in Cardiff, Wales with Andrews running things.”
Mark Andrews is a former WWE star, performing for the now-defunct NXT UK brand and had previously been signed with Impact Wrestling.
Chris Brookes performs in Japan, primarily for DDT Pro-wrestling where he is a two-time DDT Universal Champion.
