WrestleMania 39 continued two-night tradition of the event allowing analysts to compare nights to see what was most popular.
Dave Meltzer has now weighed in with his analysis of the April 1 & 2 event in the current Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), writing:
“It was a given this would be the most-watched Mania ever in North America because of the Peacock platform and huge increase in subscribers. The only numbers released was that day one’s global viewing was up 33 percent from the event record set last year, while day two was up 28 percent, so there were actually four percent more people watching the show headlined by Zayn & Owens vs. Usos than Reigns vs. Rhodes.
“The numbers for both nights are nearly identical as for U.S PPV, night one looks to have done 22,700 buys and night two at 22,900, so in this case the Sunday number was slightly higher. Last year the numbers were 24,100 and 24,500 respectively.”
Following the premium live event, WWE issued a press release confirming that WrestleMania 39 was the “most-successful and highest-grossing event in company history.”
