Former IWGP Women’s Champion Kairi Sane (KAIRI) has made an announcement on her future following reports suggesting that the 34-year-old is set for a return to WWE.
Courtesy of Monthly Puroresu on Twitter, Kairi revealed at a press conference that she is set to take an “indefinite hiatus” at the end of September, citing her loss of the IWGP Women’s Championship in February 2023 to Mercedes Mone as a factor in her decision.
Kairi also stated that she had considered retirement from the ring altogether, however, a conversation with her husband made her realise she wanted to continue wrestling.
According to the latest update from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Kairi’s expected return date to WWE is “maybe November” after she finishes her bookings in Japan.
WWE was not mentioned specifically in the press conference, however, she was also asked about her friend and former partner IYO SKY and her recent WWE Women’s Title win – Kairi said that there is nobody stronger than IYO and that the Genius of the Sky had worked hard to get to the top.
At present her next confirmed date in the ring is an All Japan Pro Wrestling event on September 8, teaming with Saori Anou to take on Unagi Sayaka and an unspecified partner.
