On the October 14 edition of AEW Dynamite and Collision, Adam Copeland announced that 2027 will be the final year of his pro wrestling career.

At 52 years old, Copeland will look to close things out on his own terms next year.

AEW should have some big and interesting plans in store for “The Rated-R Superstar” in the final year of his legendary career.

Here are some potential Adam Copeland AEW retirement plans.

One last challenge for the AEW World Title

Ahead of his retirement announcement, Adam Copeland picked up a win over Josh Alexander to advance to the AEW World Title Clockwork Carnage Match at WrestleDream 2026.

Following the announcement, Copeland explained that his upcoming retirement is why he’s going after the AEW World Championship.

Later in the show, Copeland speared AEW World Champion Will Ospreay by accident when trying to attack Kazuchika Okada during a show-closing brawl.

Whether it be in the Clockwork Carnage or in a singles match, Cope should get his opportunities to finally win the AEW World Title in his remaining months in the pro wrestling business.

Checking the Tokyo Dome off his bucket list

In his final year in the industry, Adam Copeland has provided a list of iconic arenas and stadiums he would like to compete in before his retirement.

“The Rated-R Superstar” has been able to check off a few in the past few months, including Wembley Stadium, Arena Mexico and Maple Leaf Gardens.

There is one major building that is left on Copeland’s list and that is the Tokyo Dome.

With NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 21 set to feature top AEW talent, it would make sense if Copeland checks the Tokyo Dome off his list as part of his retirement tour in 2027.

Closing out his career in Toronto

Adam Copeland has had so many career milestones in his hometown of Toronto.

From winning championship gold to having his final WWE match, Toronto has been the site for these key moments in Copeland’s career.

As soon as Copeland announced his final year will be in 2027, many fans stated that they believe it will come to an end in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Potentially heading to Toronto’s SkyDome, it should be in his hometown where Cope gets to close out his illustrious career on his terms this time.

Retiring against his best friend Christian Cage

Over the past year, Adam Copeland has reunited with Christian Cage to reform their all-time great pairing.

This led to Cope and Cage winning the AEW World Tag Team Championships from FTR back at Double Or Nothing 2026.

At AEW All Out 2026, Cope and Cage lost the titles in a three-way ladder match to The Young Bucks. During the bout, Christian suffered a serious ribs injury and a collapsed lung.

Whenever he is back, All Elite Wrestling could have Christian become the opponent for Copeland’s final match in a fitting end to the legend’s career.
