On October 13, New Japan Pro Wrestling announced the lineup and teams for their Super Jr. Tag League tournament.

Featuring some of the best junior heavyweights in the world, the company also revealed some AEW stars who will take part in this year’s tournament.

With several names who can gain exposure from the Super Junior Tag League, these talents have a chance to get the spotlight in a major way.

Here are three AEW stars who will compete in the NJPW Super Junior Tag League tournament.

Blake Christian

Blake Christian has been someone who has always been impressive in the ring.

After making sporadic appearances since 2022, Christian signed a full-time contract with All Elite Wrestling earlier this year.

Forming as a pairing in 2025, Christian joined forces with Lee Johnson to become The Swirl.

Now, The Swirl will be making their way to NJPW and enter the Super Jr. Tag League where they could find more success than they have in AEW.

Lee Johnson

Lee Johnson has long been a member of the All Elite Wrestling roster since 2021.

After start-and-stop pushes, Johnson formed a new tag team with Blake Christian in 2025.

Becoming The Swirl, Johnson and Christian have made a well oiled machine and even united with Jay Lethal to become The Lethal Twist. This trio recently beat Dalton Castle and The Outrunners to win the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Titles.

Now after their success in Ring of Honor, The Swirl will look to find similar big wins in this year’s NJPW Super Jr. Tag League.

Nick Wayne

Someone who has consistently made their presence known in NJPW over the past two years is Nick Wayne.

In May, Wayne was a huge part of his second Best of Super Juniors tournament.

Following his success in the tournament, Wayne returned to AEW and has even recently defeated Chris Jericho at the Collision: Grand Slam France show.

Now, Wayne is back in New Japan Pro Wrestling and will join forces with former six-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion KUSHIDA in the NJPW Super Jr. Tag League starting on October 24.

Mistico

At AEW Revolution 2026, Mistico and JetSpeed defeated The Don Callis Family to win the AEW World Trios Championships.

Following this win, the company announced that Mistico had officially signed with All Elite Wrestling as a dual contracted star with CMLL.

The current CMLL Light Heavyweight Champion last appeared in AEW at the All In London 2026 event.

Over in New Japan, Mistico and El Desperado captured the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championships at NJPW Wrestling Dontaku Day 2 and will now enter the Super Junior Tag League as a unit this year.
