10 FTR Matches You NEED To Watch

3. The Revival vs. American Alpha – NXT Takeover: Dallas

In a perfect display of heel wrestling, The Revival took on American Alpha at NXT Takeover: Dallas. American Alpha had become the most popular team in NXT and people were ready to see them become the champions. Where they focused on impressive amateur wrestling and charisma, The Revival were determined to do what they had to do to win.

That meant no flashy moves and tons of innovative ways to stop the hot tag. If teams are looking to study a match to be a heel team, this is a great place to start. There is a spot where rather than hitting a move off the top rope, The Revival climbed down to hit stomps. It is not their job to entertain you. They are here to beat your heroes. An absolute clinic that was made all the better by the reaction to American Alpha’s eventual victory.

2. FTR & The Young Bucks vs. The Butcher, The Blade & The Lucha Bros. – AEW Fyter Fest (July 8, 2020)

When the lineup for Fyter Fest was announced, this was one of the matches that drew the most excitement. Rather than facing the Young Bucks, FTR would be teaming with them. On the other side, The Butcher, The Blade, and the Lucha Bros. Four of the top teams in AEW and a wonderful clash of styles.

While FTR and Butcher and Blade were the grounded duos, the Young Bucks and Lucha Bros were the aerial teams. The different combinations of the four teams made this one of the best matches of 2020. With ridiculous spots, great wrestling, and effective storytelling, this match fully delivered. Now, we just have to wait for the eventual match between FTR and the Young Bucks. Rest assured, it will make this list.

1. The Revival vs. DIY – NXT Takeover: Toronto

We mentioned earlier that The Revival’s match with DIY in Brooklyn raised the interest in the rematch. Well, here it is. At NXT Takeover: Toronto, the two teams clashed in a Two-out-of-Three Falls match. WWE themselves named this their match of the year, which should go to show how undeniably great this was.

With the score tied at one fall apiece, they advanced to the third fall. From this point, this was one of the best matches in WWE history. The crowd in Toronto was hooked on this match and with every nearfall and submission they were either standing or on the edge of their seat. This is as good a tag team match as there has ever been in WWE and a perfect example of what The Revival or FTR is capable of.
