On May 2, the wrestling world was left shocked when it was announced that The New Day were departing WWE.

As soon as the news broke, it didn’t take long for many fans to assume that Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods could make their way over to All Elite Wrestling.

With The New Day starting a new chapter in their legendary careers, fans could see Kofi and Austin Creed join forces with some stars from the AEW roster in their new home.

Here are six AEW stars to potentially join The New Day.

6. Claudio Castagnoli

Since arriving in All Elite Wrestling in 2022, Claudio Castagnoli has been closely tied to Jon Moxley.

Whether it be the Blackpool Combat Club or The Death Riders, Castagnoli has been the enforcer standing side-by-side with Mox.

However, Castagnoli may choose another friendship and group to align with if The New Day sign with AEW.

For years, Castagnoli has been very close friends with both Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, so he could be in the middle of choosing between The New Day and The Death Riders when they arrive in AEW.

5. Bobby Lashley

Another AEW star who is currently aligned with an active stable in the company right now is Bobby Lashley.

The two-time WWE Champion signed with All Elite Wrestling alongside his former Hurt Business stablemates MVP and Shelton Benjamin to become the Hurt Syndicate.

However, Lashley has been one of the most vocal supporters of The New Day for several years now.

Choosing to align himself with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods upon their arrival in AEW, Lashley could switch sides and leave The Hurt Syndicate to become the newest member of The New Day.

4. Adam Cole

Another close friend of The New Day dating back to their time together in WWE was Adam Cole.

Cole, Xavier Woods, Tyler Breeze and Claudio Castagnoli were members of the online streaming partnership known as “Da Party.”

Making content and memories alongside one another, Cole forged a close knit connection with Woods that could be explored upon The New Day’s possible signing with AEW.

While he is currently sidelined following multiple concussions, The New Day could be with AEW by the time Cole makes his in-ring return and welcome him back with open arms as the newest member of the team in a new company.

3. Mercedes Mone

Another longtime friend of both Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods behind-the-scenes in WWE was Mercedes Mone.

During her time as Sasha Banks in WWE, Mone formed a friendship with The New Day that was seen several times on social media and YouTube.

While she has mostly been a loner since signing with All Elite Wrestling, ‘The CEO’ could finally find some allies that can assist in her road back to the top in The New Day.

Feeding off their positivity, The New Day could fuel a potential babyface turn for Mone when she is ready to return to AEW.

2. Willow Nightingale

Someone who has been greatly influenced by The New Day’s legacy in pro wrestling is Willow Nightingale.

The current TBS Champion is someone who is a glowing light of positivity and has expressed the inspiration that The New Day had on her career.

With Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods potentially making their way to All Elite Wrestling, it might just be a matter of time before they interact with Nightingale.

Willow becoming a ‘female Big E’ of sorts for The New Day would be fun and offer some interesting, new directions for the group to go.

1. Swerve Strickland

Swerve Strickland is someone who has made it no secret that he is friends with both Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.

After becoming the first ever African American AEW World Champion, Strickland was quick to note the similarities his accomplishment had to Kofi’s WWE Championship win at WrestleMania 35 in 2019.

Now all these years later, it seems like Strickland will be back in the same company as The New Day once more.

Swerve becoming the newest member of The New Day could open the door for his rivalry with Kenny Omega to expand with that trio being the perfect foils for The Elite to do battle with moving forward.
