WWE
Last night’s WWE NXT premium live event played host to Grayson Waller winning the main event to become NXT Champion for the first time.
Waller’s win now means the NXT 2.0 WarGamest team from back in 2021 have all held the NXT Title – Waller, Tony D’Angelo, Carmelo Hayes, Bron Breakker, and Trick Williams who was technically in Hayes’ corner.
With Waller hoping to use this run to rebound back to the main roster at some point, the question is, who will he drop his title to on the way out – here are five possible names.
5. EK Prosper

EK Prosper joined WWE NXT as Eli Knight before undergoing a name change
EK Prosper has shown all the signs of being a top prospect among the current WWE NXT men’s roster, which was most evident in his recent outing against SmackDown star Rey Fenix for the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship.
It may be a bit soon for Prosper to become the top champion on the show, but he should probably get there eventually.
Hopefully this isn’t a situation like Je’Von Evans where Shawn Michaels waits and waits and waits, and then doesn’t have chance to put the title on him because the main roster wants him.
4. Mason Rook

Mason Rook was known as Will Kroos on the indies before joining WWE
Mason Rook came into WWE NXT with a bang and praise from the biggest possible source – John Cena.
However, his time in NXT hasn’t seen him catapulted to the top, as instead, he’s been in the midcard, perhaps even the undercard, interacting with Kam Hendrix.
That is most likely going to lead to Rook beating Hendrix and moving upwards, so he could end up being the one to dethrone Waller if NXT is ready to commit to Rook as champion.
3. Cruz Montana

Cruz Montana is a two-time TNA World Champion
Cruz Montana was the latest big TNA to WWE move and immediately found himself in the main event picture in NXT.
One of the four men in the Heatwave main event, Montana seemed to have the match won before Waller stole it from him right at the end, so if any of the four have an argument to get the first shot at Waller, it’s probably Montana.
However, this could depend on how fast WWE plans to move Montana to the main roster, as that may dictate that he simply doesn’t have the time for an NXT Title reign.
2. Zilla Fatu

Zilla Fatu is the son of WWE legend Umaga
Another of those four men in the Heatwave main event was one of the newest WWE signings, Zilla Fatu.
Fatu is clearly a project in WWE as, upon debuting in NXT, he even got a video package on Raw highlighting his arrival.
This is a situation like Montana though as WWE could be looking to fast track Fatu through NXT onto the main roster to get him involved with the Bloodline, which may mean he won’t have the chance to reign as champion.
However, winning the NXT Title could be a good way to showcase his value on his own, similar to how Solo Sikoa was NXT North American Champion in his early Bloodline days.
1. Keanu Carver

Keanu Carver debuted in the 2023 NXT Breakout Tournament
Perhaps the best bet as a future NXT Champion on the roster right now is Keanu Carver.
Having come in as a lawless brute, Carver seems to have learned that the best way to get an NXT Title match is to win matches fairly and treat General Manager Robert Stone with respect.
This seems to have endeared him to the fans and could eventually make him a great babyface to end Grayson Waller’s title reign.
