Brock Lesnar made a phone call to The Undertaker before going out to face Oba Femi at WWE SummerSlam in August of this year.
Night 1 of WWE SummerSlam saw Brock Lesnar face Oba Femi in a Hell in a Cell match that main-evented Night 1 of the Premium Live Event.
With the match seeing Femi victorious, Lesnar would call an end to his in-ring career, officially retiring as a WWE star.
During a recent episode of Six Feet Under, The Undertaker revealed that he received a phone call before the match from his one-time rival, saying:
“What a full circle kinda moment and I don’t really get into the weeds of… I try not to… but the phone call that I got yesterday really meant a lot to me and I’m not gonna get into what the phone call was about, but the fact that I received that phone call, it said a lot about him, you guys together and it was something he didn’t have to do, but it meant the world to me as an old-timer and it just shows… I don’t think Brock really got enough credit for his passion for the business.”

The Undertaker would then comment on others having an opinion on Lesnar when it comes to discourse about money or dates, going on to say:
“I think, genuinely, he had to love this business and things like that phone call yesterday reiterated to me he understood, he gets it. It’s kinda sad to me, it’s one less guy that’s gonna be around that understands tradition and the way things used to be done.”
Heyman would look back at the history between The Undertaker and Lesnar, particularly in the recently-retired star’s early career, stating:
“It really has come full circle because everything that he has been doing for and with Oba, you did for and with him, and that phone call was necessary.
“There is a code of honor here in this industry that if you were in there with someone you can’t even stand on a personal level, but you stand on a chair and fall backwards, you know that person is going to catch you. That’s the code of honor we all sign up for in this industry, otherwise so many more people would have their faces smashed in.
“So, that phone call was a must. I couldn’t imagine the day going by without that phone call being placed.”

The Undertaker would reiterate what the phone call meant to him, leading to a fun exchange with Heyman:
Taker: “It meant the world to me, and I know… I could see you sitting in the room.”
Heyman: “Well, he used my phone (laughing).”
Referring to the old school sensibilities of Heyman, The Undertaker would conclude by calling the call a “cool moment” before the match, saying:
“(Laughing) I know he used your phone! I know that you, as a… I wouldn’t necessarily call you a traditionalist, but in a sense you are, you’re from the old school… it was a cool moment, then they go out and they did what they did.”

Heyman would also reveal how he knew that SummerSlam was the point at which Brock Lesnar would retire from his WWE career.
The Rivalry That Ended The Streak
Debuting in WWE back in 2002, Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker would first cross paths a tag team on a string of house shows through the second half of that year, going on to face each other from August, with their first PLE match taking place at that year’s Unforgiven, with Lesnar retaining the WWE Heavyweight Championship.
With Lesnar retaining the championship at Unforgiven, the pair would face off again at the following month’s No Mercy, with The Beast Incarnate once again victorious in a Hell in a Cell Match.
Given the standing of The Undertaker as a locker room leader and an influential figure in his own right, the veteran star must have recognized the potential of Lesnar, with the pair crossing paths multiple times over the years.
It would be Lesnar who would break The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak in 2014, a moment that shocked WWE fans at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans and led to much discussion online at the time.
That wouldn’t be the end of their rivalry, however, with Lesnar facing off against The Undertaker at SummerSlam in 2015. The Undertaker would win that match by technical submission, with the pair crossing paths once again at Hell in a Cell in October of that year, seeing Lesnar victorious.
A legendary rivalry, a shock moment at WrestleMania and the controversy surrounding the finish of their SummerSlam 2015 match- there’s plenty to talk about when it comes to Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker, and plenty of opportunity to hear from both stars in the future.
