TNA Wrestling star Cedric Alexander has revealed that he seemingly didn’t feel valued during his WWE tenure, saying he “didn’t feel useful.”

A former WWE Raw Tag Team Champion, alongside Shelton Benjamin, a possible reunion with his Hurt Business teammates would be scotched when Cedric Alexander opted to re-sign with TNA Wrestling in January of this year.

During a recent appearance on Soundsphere, Alexander opened up about the tail-end of WWE run, noting that he felt neither important or useful following his move to NXT.

With the host noting that some of the TNA Wrestling stars that he has spoken to has said that the company reignited their passion for wrestling, Cedric Alexander would seem to concur with this assessment and was asked about it being a “nice feeling”, stating:

“It really is. It really, really is. Especially in a time when, like, I was down in NXT a while, I didn’t feel important, I didn’t feel useful.

“Ever since coming to TNA, I found my spot. I feel useful. There’s things for me to do. There’s ways that I can help, and grow. Not only grow myself, but grow the business. I feel like I’m doing something instead of sitting idly by and watching the world pass me by.

“Like I say, man, it’s something I couldn’t and wouldn’t change for the world.

Alexander would initially appear in WWE as part of the 2016 Cruiserweight Classic, going on to become a fixture on the Raw brand.

A former Cruiserweight Champion, Alexander would go on to join Hurt Business, with Shelton Benjamin, Bobby Lashley and MVP now all signed to AEW and starring as The Hurt Syndicate.

July 2024 would see Alexander move to NXT, where he would spend the rest of his run until his release in February of last year.

The star has since returned to NXT as part of the partnership between TNA Wrestling and WWE, during the invasion of last September.

Earlier this year, he commented that WWE’s Je’Von Evans, along with TNA Wrestling’s Leon Slater and Jason Hotch, make him proud to be a wrestler.

Alexander In AEW: What Could Have Been

For a faction that lasted around two years in WWE, The Hurt Business were a well regarded collective, with Bobby Lashley being a two-time WWE Champion and United States Champion during its time, and Benjamin & Alexander holding the Raw Tag Team Championship (along with runs as WWE 24/7 Champion).

Rumors of a reunion in WWE were teased, although little came from that, with Lashley and MVP both addressing Hurt Business not getting a “proper ending“.

Signed to AEW, MVP, Lashley and Benjamin have reunited and formed The Hurt Syndicate, with the latter two holding the World Tag Team Championship during their ongoing tenure.

Prior to re-signing with TNA Wrestling, Cedric Alexander was a topic of conversation for MVP during an interview where he shared a hope that the star would sign with AEW. The Hurt Syndicate manager would go on to discuss the possibility of a new member joining the faction.

In AEW, MJF joined The Hurt Syndicate for a brief period last year, with Bobby Lashley explaining the decision to remove the star.

Cedric Alexander previously stated that a reunion not happening was down to timing, noting that he felt like he was in a different part of his career to MVP, Lashley and Benjamin.

Reuniting with Cedric Alexander could have been a big moment on AEW television, offering a greater degree of creative opportunities when it comes to matches. Being able to choose from Benjamin, Lashley or Alexander in a tag team match, having any of the three in singles, or sending them all into a Trios encounter would have been something to see for many fans who long to see them as a unit.

Of course, it could still happen, after all, contracts expire, and there’s always money on the table for the right talent at the right time.
