Chad Gable has shared an update on his relationship with his former WWE tag team partner, who retired from in-ring action due to injury.

One-half of American Alpha, Chad Gable would team with Jason Jordan, becoming NXT Tag Team Champions and then SmackDown Tag Team Champions following their main roster draft in 2016.

Last competing at the Royal Rumble in January 2018, Jason Jordan would team with Seth Rollins losing the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship to The Bar (Cesaro & Sheamus).

Since then, Jordan has transitioned to a backstage role, having suffered a career-ending injury that required surgery.

During a recent SummerSlam Vlog, Chad Gable revealed that he is still close to Jordan, who now serves as a producer in WWE, saying:

“Jason’s been there all along. He’s been there since the very beginning.

“And we have conversations that go so deep that people would be like, “What?” I mean, we just get lost in conversation about philosophy and life.

“We’re like brothers man, so to have him there for that moment, to be one of the first people I see as I walk through (to Gorilla position), I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

SummerSlam on August 2 would see Chad Gable defeat Penta to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion, with the star commenting on the “impossibly perfect” chain of events leading to the win.

From One Career To Another

Jason Jordan is far from the only WWE star to find a new path after injury brought an end to their in-ring career.

Among the names familiar to WWE fans, Big E has continued as an on-screen analyst and ambassador following a neck injury suffered in March 2022 and has previously spoken about that transition.

TJ Wilson, known to fans as Tyson Kidd, is another star who transitioned to a backstage producer role, having seen his in-ring career end back in June 2015, also serving as a trainer and co-owner of The Dungeon 2.0 alongside his real-life wife, and current WWE star, Nattie.

Corey Graves is probably among the most prominent names to move from being an active competitor to a different role, having retired due to concussion-related issues back in 2014 and seeing a move to a panellist and commentary duties in the subsequent years.

With knowledge and experience, it’s clear why WWE would want to employ stars in other positions when their in-ring career comes to an end.
