A very polarising gimmick appears to have been written off of TV on tonight’s (June 18) edition of SmackDown.
On the show, Shinsuke Nakamura took on King Corbin in a match dubbed “the Battle for the Crown”. The match ended with Nakamura pinning Corbin with a Kinshasa to win the crown.
After the match, Corbin was shown crying while the announcers made sure to mention that he was seemingly no longer a king, appearing to be the end of Corbin’s king gimmick.

There has been speculation that the feud between Corbin and Nakamura would result in the return of the King of the Ring tournament.
