Chris Jericho Signs A New AEW Deal

It was reported by Variety that Chris Jericho has signed a three-year extension to his AEW deal which will see him take on further responsibilities.

Variety state that the new deal will see Jericho serving as a producer and creative advisor whilst also working as a mentor to young talent.

In a statement about the extension, Tony Khan said:

“(Jericho will) continue to serve as a valuable leader with our roster having the opportunity to utilize one of most creative minds in the history of wrestling.”

With Jericho currently being The Ocho and ROH World Champion, his on-screen presence is of value to AEW and ROH, whilst his knowledge of wrestling and the business goes without saying.

Major WWE Star Return Rumours

Becky Lynch has been absent from the WWE ring since separating her shoulder during her match with Bianca Belair at Summerslam and hasn’t been seen since the attack from Damage CTRL on the Raw after Summerslam.

Her return to the ring has been much anticipated and it looks like it could be happening in what remains of 2022, if rehab goes to plan and surgery isn’t required.

Fightful Select (subscription required) has reported that, as of early September, Becky’s doctors and physical therapists believed that it would be at least ‘a couple of months’ before she could return to the ring and that there is no definitive timetable on her return.

WWE star Becky Lynch

Former Women’s Champion Becky Lynch has not wrestled since SummerSlam 2022.

Those in WWE creative reportedly said they were hopeful to have Becky back by the end of the year, but that was not a guarantee and was them being optimistic that she wouldn’t have surgery.

Other Stuff

With the main event brought to an unfortunate earlier conclusion on AEW Dynamite, Jon Moxley took to the mic to call out MJF.

MJF responded, coming down to the ring with his casino chip and addressed Moxley, telling him that he wouldn’t be cashing in on that show.

It was then revealed that MJF will cash in and take on Moxley for the AEW World Championship at AEW Full Gear 2022, setting not only the match but also the main event.

The October 18 2022 episode of NXT was a stacked show, to say the least, going head-to-head with AEW Dynamite with WWE Creative pulling out all the stops!

This included the appearance of Shinsuke Nakamura, a two-time NXT Champion and current Smackdown roster member, taking on Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo.

On the October 17 2022 episode of WWE Raw, JBL made his return to the company and brought with him the former Happy Corbin, now with his Baron Corbin name and a new purpose.

Reporting on plans for the pair, Fightful Select have confirmed that the “Happy” name is no more , despite the entrance music and graphics used on Raw, with reports also stating that WWE didn’t try to hide with new partnership, listing them both on internal run sheets for Raw over the weekend.

Further to this, PW Insider confirmed that JBL is expected to make several appearances on the Raw brand in the weeks to come.

Following the purchase of Ring of Honor by Tony Khan, fans were excited as to what the man behind AEW would do with the company.

So far, creatively, there’s been a mixed reaction to Tony’s decision to have Chris Jericho as ROH champion, with some disappointed that Claudio Castagnoli is no longer the face of the company, having lost the championship to Chris Jericho.

Khan continues on undeterred by criticism of what he’s doing to Ring of Honor, though, and has promised some news shortly, following the success of the two pay-per-view events (Supercard of Honor and Death Before Dishonor) that he’s run since taking over the company.

Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Khan has stated:

“We’ll have great news soon about Ring of Honor weekly shows. The success of Death Before Dishonor on pay-per-view has ensured there will be more Ring of Honor pay-per-views.”

“Our goal is to have one more great pay-per-view for Ring of Honor in 2022 and then follow that up with a weekly show in 2023.”

Saraya spoke to Chris Jericho on the Talk is Jericho podcast and gave insight into her final years in WWE.

Speaking of her time as WWE Smackdown manager, she said:

” I loved it, but then that kind of got cut short.”

She revealed that the news had come from Road Dogg, for whom she had nothing but praise:

“And he was just like, ‘So, we’re probably not going to do the GM anymore, so you won’t have to come to work tomorrow.”

Things, from that point, were not so rose for the former Paige, as she explained:

“But I ended up sitting in my house for three or four years. And that’s the most depressing thing because you just feel like you’re completely useless.”

Thankfully, she’s since returned to wrestling thanks to AEW where, hopefully, she will be better utilised.
