Paul Heyman Says WWE SmackDown Star ‘Has No Idea How Truly Talented He is’

While speaking about character work, Paul Heyman highlighted a WWE SmackDown star as someone who doesn’t know how truly talented he is.

Paul Heyman is an individual who many stars want to work with, both on-screen and behind the scenes.

Speaking on Six Feet Under with The Undertaker, Paul Heyman spoke about how he’d mentor stars and help them with their character work, noting that he’d often have extended conversations with Roman Reigns’ Tribal Chief character while Reigns was refining that role.

When wrapping up talking about his current role, Heyman highlighted Royce Keys, noting that the former AEW star doesn’t know how talented he is.

Heyman said:

“If you give me a Royce Keys for example, who despite the fact that he’s been in the business for 15-20 years, has no idea how truly talented he is.

“You give me a Je’Von Evans, or a Jade Cargill, or even Charlotte Flair, who has been in the business since birth, and you look at it from a different perspective and you force that person to look at it from a different perspective, it opens up a whole new light for them, in their pursuit of something that goes back to, walking away with that spiritually orgasmic feeling of ‘I did something great, I did something special.’

“I’m here to help in whatever assists the cause of the promotion to move forward.”

Formerly “Powerhouse Hobbs” in AEW, Royce Keys signed with WWE in January. He completely skipped NXT, making his debut in that month’s Royal Rumble match.

He wrestled in dark matches ahead of Raw and SmackDown broadcasts before making his SmackDown TV debut on April 10. Keys won the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal one week later, becoming just the 12th star to do so.

Royce Keys was in six-man tag-team action at SummerSlam, siding with Solo Sikoa and LA Knight to score a victory over Jacob Fatu and The Usos.

He last wrestled on the August 3 Raw episode, losing to Jacob Fatu in a Street Fight, after which WWE announced that he would be out “indefinitely”.
