The ‘One True’ AEW World Champion MJF has responded to a recent challenge from an international star coming off a major victory.

New Japan Pro Wrestling’s annual G1 Climax Tournament came to an end this past weekend, with Ryohei Oiwa coming out on top in the final over Yuya Uemura in an instant classic main event.

The victory was the first time Oiwa won the coveted tournament, with him set to challenge the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion for the title at King of Pro Wrestling.

Oiwa would pick up the win in the match with a headlock, which drew a lot of praise to him from fans watching the show.

Ryohei Oiwa Challenges MJF To Enter Next Year’s G1 Climax

The praise for Oiwa did not sit well with former (or current if you ask him) AEW World Champion MJF, who replied to a picture of Oiwa and simply wrote:

I’m the superior headlock wrestler.

MJF’s comments were brought up to Oiwa in a recent interview he did with Tokyo Sports, where he would go on to tell MJF to put his money where his mouth is, challenging him to enter next year’s G1 Climax.

He said:

“In that case, why don’t you bring that headlock of yours and step into next year’s G1? When you do, I’ll take you down with my headlock.”

MJF would reject Oiwa’s challenge in a way only MJF knows how, by writing:

Tell that f**king dork Oiwa he’d be lucky to lace my boots let alone meet me in a ring.

MJF is carrying around his ‘Triple B’ AEW World Championship title since his return at AEW Grand Slam Mexico.

He will enter the Casino Gauntlet match at AEW All In London next weekend at the number two spot, with Andrade El Idolo set to enter at number one.

Will MJF Go Down As The Biggest Star To Never Wrestle In WWE?

In recent interviews, MJF has laid out a number of objectives he has over his career, with him hoping to one day be in the conversations as the greatest of all time.

At 30 years old, MJF has almost an entire career ahead of him, and while he has said to never say never about him one day signing with WWE, he seems very happy where he currently is in AEW.

MJF has also gone on record as saying he wants to be on the Mount Rushmore of wrestlers turned actors, and that it would be more fulfilling to do it ‘having never worked there’.
