AJ Styles Praises WWE Star As ‘One Of The Greatest To Ever Do It’

WWE Hall of Famer AJ Styles has praised a current WWE star as ‘one of the greatest to ever do it’ following last night’s Raw.

On last night’s episode of Raw in Buffalo, New York, Chad Gable made the first defence of his WWE Intercontinental Championship after winning the title in his hometown of Minneapolis at WWE SummerSlam.

Gable would defend the title against WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio in an incredible clash, with Gable picking up the win via Submission with the Ankle Lock.

While Gable got the victory, fans left the show talking about Rey Mysterio, as the 51 year old WWE Hall of Famer continues to move as if he was 25 years younger.

When one fan praised Rey’s performance, asking AJ Styles if he has any idea how Mysterio is still able to compete at the level he is competing at in 2026.

AJ simply said Rey is able to do so by being one of the greatest to ever do it.

He responded:

Yeah, he’s one of the greatest to ever do it. He is the greatest Luchador ever! Timeless @reymysterio

AJ’s in-ring career came to an end back at the Royal Rumble in January when he was defeated by Gunther.

Who Will Defeat Chad Gable For Intercontinental Championship?

With Chad Gable now reigning as Intercontinental Champion, there are a number of current names on the WWE Raw roster we could see defeat him to become the next champion.

Among the top of that list right now would likely be Big Cass, who just made his return to WWE television after SummerSlam by attacking Je’von Evans.

With Gable a popular babyface on the show, he will likely need to lose the title to a heel before the title goes to another babyface star, most likely Je’von Evans, later in the year.

Big Cass winning the title so soon after his return would feel awfully similar to Baron Corbin’s United States Championship victory on SmackDown, with him also winning the title in his first match since returning to the company.

Other more interesting options to defeat Gable would be names like Ethan Page, who has chased the title since he first arrived on Raw, or someone like Carmelo Hayes moving over from SmackDown.
