WWE star Je’Von Evans has recalled “marking out” when facing Penta, noting that a spot in the match was one of the worst things he’s ever felt in wrestling.
Evans challenged for Penta’s Intercontinental Championship on the May 25 WWE Raw episode. This was the first time the two stars faced off one-on-one, having previously shared the ring in multi-man matches.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Je’Von Evans noted that he was “marking out” ahead of the match, having been a fan of Penta since his Lucha Underground days.
Evans recalled:
“That was such a great match, bro. That was my first time going against Penta. I was marking out, because I’ve always watched Penta, especially in Lucha Underground. I was just going crazy like ‘I’m about to go against Penta, bro!’ Crazy, crazy, crazy.
“I was just so nervous about taking his chops, because his chops on Lucha Underground were so loud. It was great, I was just there like ‘Just do it!'”

Recalling hitting his tailbone on the announce table following a dive, Je’Von Evans continued:
“It was fire, I almost broke my back in that match too. We did something to where he went on the outside and I was trying to go for a dive. I hit the ropes and he was going to catch me and throw me over the announce table.
“But I think the table was mad far, so he tried to grab me, and I tried to post off his shoulder, but it just didn’t go off well. I saw the table and I was lik ‘Okay, I’m not making it over.’ I’m either going to eat the table with my face or my chest, or I’ve got to shift my body.
“I shifted my body and literally, my tailbone, my exact tailbone, hit the edge of the table. That was probably like one of the worst things I’ve ever felt in wrestling.”

One of Je’Von Evans’ goals is to become the youngest ever Intercontinental Champion, breaking Jeff Hardy’s record he set with a title win at 23.
The 22 year old has noted that he is “locked in and focused” on breaking several championship records, click here to read more.
