AEW
An AEW star has teased the possibility that his in-ring career may shortly be coming to an end, viewing All In: London as a ‘last chance’.
With AEW All In: London taking place on August 30, Nigel McGuinness has set his sights on reaching the final of the Continental Challenge Cup, despite recently picking up an injury.
Speaking on the AEW Continental Challenge Cup Quarterfinal Selection Special, McGuinness indicated time could be over for him as an in-ring star, saying:
“I know this is the end of my career and, as such, this could be the last chance I get to compete in the Continental Cup.
“You know, it’s funny, when we started out with this, I said, ‘Better a lion for a day than a lamb for a lifetime.’
“I had no idea how true that would prove, cos I am afraid, but not too afraid to stop. Someone else is gonna have to stop me, and I can promise whoever I face next, I will claw and bit and use every legal advantage to get past you and get one step closer to the hallowed grounds of Wembley Stadium where, 34 years ago, I realized I would be a pro-wrestler.”

It was revealed, during the selection, that McGuinness will face Hechicero in the quarterfinal, with that match taking place on this week’s AEW Dynamite.
A Fitting End For A British-Born Star?
With the final of the Continental Challenge Cup taking place at Wembley Stadium in London, England, an opportunity exists for another hometown hero to make his mark.
On a show that sees Will Ospreay face Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship, seeing Nigel McGuinness return to the venue in which he made his in-ring return back in August 2024 would no doubt add to the fervor of the fans in Wembley Stadium.
This time, however, McGuinness wouldn’t be an entrant in the Casino Gauntlet, but a star competing in a singles back at the major pay-per-view, once again on home soil.
For McGuinness, he has Hechicero to overcome on this week’s AEW Dynamite in the quarterfinals, with Jon Moxley taking on Jay White on the same show. Collision will see Orange Cassidy face Kyle O’Reilly and Eddie Kingston take on Claudio Castagnoli.
Should McGuinness move forward, he faces quite the battle no matter who wins the other quarterfinals.
