A change has been announced for an upcoming Hollywood movie confirmed to be featuring WWE’s Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes.
Following a number of reports, it has now been confirmed that both Reigns and Rhodes have been cast in the upcoming Street Fighter movie, with Reigns playing Akuma and Rhodes stepping into the role of Guile.
With an October 16, 2026 release date announced, a change has been confirmed for the movie’s distribution.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Street Fighter has found a new distribution home, with Legendary signing a three-year deal with Paramount to distribute its movies.
It was noted that Street Fighter will be the first movie distributed under Paramount as part of this deal.
The report also stated that Legendary’s former partner Warner Bros is expected to continue to distribute other key franchises, including the sequel to this year’s A Minecraft Movie, and the third Dune movie.
Street Fighter will take place in 1993 and will follow characters Ryu and Ken Masters who join the World Warrior Tournament.
The new logline for the movie is as follows, shared by The Hollywood Reporter:
“Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury.
But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER!”
