WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Development, Creative Shawn Michaels has shared an update on a wrestling veteran’s son’s tryout with the company.

A number of multi-generation stars have been establishing themselves as wrestlers in their own right this year. With Avery Styles recently signing with TNA Wrestling, an update has emerged on another second-generation star potentially joining WWE.

Following previous reports that Joseph Chavis – the son of former WWE star Tatanka – was set to attend a WWE tryout over SummerSlam weekend, Shawn Michaels confirmed this during his recent appearance on the Busted Open podcast.

Shawn Michaels stated that Joseph “did a really good job”, before noting that he’s looking forward to seeing his progression in wrestling.

Michaels said:

“I will say, for what it’s worth, Tatanka’s son was at one of our last tryouts. He did a really good job, so I’m excited to see the progression of that young man once he comes in the doors.”

Michaels’ positive comments and latter statement make it sound like WWE could soon send the second-generation star an official offer.

An official signing has yet to be confirmed, so we will have to wait and see whether Michaels will be following Joseph’s progression in WWE, or if he will be watching from afar as Joseph wrestles for other promotions.

Nattie recently confirmed that WWE star Jacob Fatu is coaching Tatanka’s sons Joseph and Jeremiah at her Dungeon training facility, both in the ring and with promo work.

Nattie’s Dungeon facility operates on an invite-only basis, so the Chavis brothers being part of that community indicates that they’re dedicated to improving their craft.

The Lowkey Legend recently named another WWE star she wants to see train at her Dungeon to “dial in his wrestling”, click here to read more.

While Shawn Michaels appears to be high on the young prospect, we will have to wait and see as to whether an official deal materialises.
