WWE star Shayna Baszler has now responded to criticism surrounding her MMA Rules match against Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam 2023.
The former friends faced off at the August 5 event in a unique match, with a win only achievable via knockout or submission.
Baszler ultimately stood tall, choking Rousey unconscious after 7 minutes of worked-MMA action.
The match received mixed reactions in the arena, with pockets of fans occasionally chanting ‘this is boring’ during the bout.
The discourse surrounding this match has continued online, with fans divided on whether or not this was one of the stronger or weaker matches on the card.
Baszler has now reacted to this debate, sharing a post from a Twitter account stating that it’s sad that most won’t appreciate the technical match.
The Queen of Spades replied with a quote:
“Don’t ever compromise the integrity of what you know just because some people can’t keep up.”
It has been speculated that Baszler could target a women’s champion next, following her dominant victory.
The WWE Women’s Title changed hands twice at SummerSlam 2023, with Bianca Belair initially winning the gold in a threeway bout against Charlotte Flair and now-former champion Asuka.
IYO SKY then cashed in her Money in the Bank contract and defeated Belair in a matter of seconds to win the WWE Women’s Title.
Dakota Kai has now shared an update on her injury recovery following her appearance in this segment, which you can read more about right here.
