The Undertaker WWE AAA Role Confirmed, ‘Vision’ For The Brand Revealed

The Undertaker has confirmed his specific role in WWE AAA and confirmed what his “vision” for the brand looks like.

The Undertaker’s work behind the scenes in AAA, alongside Jermey Borash is something that has been well documented since WWE purchased the promotion back in April 2025.

‘The Deadman’ is credited as Executive Producer of AAA’s weekly programming under his real name of Mark Calaway, and has been reported to be a key figure in creative alongside Jeremy Borash.

While the likes of Chad Gable and Mr. Iguana have praised his work in Mexico, Undertaker has not often spoken publicly about his influence and role in AAA, but this was something Chris Van Vliet was keen to find out during his chat with the WWE Hall of Famer on the latest episode of his Insight podcast.

Undertaker was asked how much credit he takes for the critically acclaimed Mask vs. Mask match between El Grande Americano and Original El Grande Americano (Chad Gable) at AAA Noche de Los Grandes in May.

In response, Undertaker confirmed he and Jeremy Borash had the idea of the feud, but it was the performers who took it to a “whole different level”:

“Myself and Jeremy Borash kind of had this idea, but El Grande and Chad Gable, man, they took the thought and the idea, and they really took it to a whole different level.

“There were some highly motivating speeches that I gave both of them before they would go out.”

“I would reiterate to them how important what they’re about to go out and do is not only for AAA but for their own personal careers, trying to motivate them to do things differently and be more edgy, more aggressive, more violent, right? It took a while for that to kind of set in, and for them to see my vision.”

Undertaker would then comment further on his “vision” for AAA, detailing how he’s aimed to make their product “completely different” from WWE’s other shows: Raw, SmackDown and NXT:

“My vision is, I want us to put out a product that is completely different from NXT, it’s completely different from SmackDown or Raw. I want it to be different from every other wrestling. That starts, to me, with storytelling, athleticism, and aggression.

“It’s a process, and everybody’s starting to buy into it and realizing that what we’re doing down there has got the attention of the wrestling community.” 

Undertaker would then confirm his actual role in WWE AAA, with ‘The Deadman’ confirming that he is AAA’s head of creative:

“I guess in layman’s terms, I’m the head of creative.”
