Former WWE Champion Reacts To Brock Lesnar Calling Oba Femi The Future At SummerSlam 2026: ‘That Is A Huge Amount Of Pressure’

The Miz has commented on Brock Lesnar calling Oba Femi the future following their match at WWE SummerSlam.

The August 1 SummerSlam night one show was headlined by a Hell in a Cell match, with Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi meeting one-on-one for the third time.

Despite getting hit with a Tombstone Piledriver on the exposed wooden boards in the ring, Oba Femi was ultimately victorious, pinning Lesnar to win their match series 2-1.

Brock Lesnar heavily praised Oba Femi following the match, taking to the mic to call him “the future”.

The Miz reacted to these events during his interview with the Battleground Podcast, during which he stated that this is a huge amount of pressure for the former NXT Champion.

The Grand Slam Champion said:

“Watching Brock Lesnar with Oba Femi was unreal. Great match. I think everyone (loved what Lesnar did after the match). When you’re looking at that, you’re going, ‘He’s putting him over. He’s putting him over huge.’

“This is Brock Lesnar, this is a person that doesn’t go by whatever creative tells him to do. Brock does what Brock wants to do, and Brock did that.

“That is a huge amount of pressure put on Oba Femi, because now you are the next big thing. You’ve been anointed the next big thing by the Next Big Thing.”

WWE has been making an effort to create new stars this year, with the likes of Trick Williams and Fatal Influence holding gold within months of their NXT call-ups.

Oba Femi has been the figurehead of this new wave of prospects, making his official main roster debut in the Royal Rumble match – during which he eliminated five stars and survived for 39 minutes – ahead of his trilogy of matches against Brock Lesnar, and winning the King of the Ring tournament.

It will be interesting to see Oba Femi’s direction for the rest of the year, with the company hoping to keep his momentum going.
