A backstage update has revealed that Vince McMahon was absent from a recent WWE TV taping.
McMahon stepped away from his positions as WWE CEO and Chairman in June, amid ‘hush pact’ allegations.
A second report from the Wall Street Journal on July 8 indicated that Vince McMahon has paid over $12 million in “hush money” over the past 16 years to “suppress allegations of sexual misconduct and infidelity”, which you can read more about at this link.
Throughout all of this, McMahon has retained his creative duties, so still plays a key role backstage at WWE tapings.
Per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter however, both Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn were not at the July 15 SmackDown taping at the Amway Center in Orlando, Callifornia. There was no word on the reason for the McMahon and Dunn’s absence.
A recent report indicated that McMahon planned to travel to Vancouver, Canada that weekend, a trip believed to have been moved from the previous weekend.
John Cena notably had a second wedding ceremony with his wife Shay Shariatzadeh at the Vancouver Club last week, however there has been no confirmation that McMahon’s travel plans went ahead, or that he attended the ceremony.
