WWE NXT star Wes Lee has thanked fans for their support following a recent injury that saw him pulled from a title match.
Lee was set to face Dominik Mysterio for the NXT North American Championship at Deadline on December 9, 2023.
On the December 5 episode of WWE NXT, Lee came to the ring to announce that he was injured and the injury would require surgery.
He would also reveal that this meant he was out of action indefinitely, though promised it was “not a goodbye”, with Vic Joseph on commentary suggesting he may be out for eight to twelve months.
While specific details on the injury were not disclosed by Lee, PWInsider has reported the belief that it is a back injury of some description, and in case there was any doubt, it’s “100% legitimate”.
Wes Lee has recently shared an emotional message to his wife on social media, calling her “the greatest source of strength.”
The former WWE NXT North American Champion has now addressed the support from fans in a post on Twitter too, writing:
“Thank you all for the get well wishes. Warms my heart to see the love from y’all.
“Truly hurt to have to deliver the message but I promise to also deliver on my claim to return and rep the WesSide proudly.
“Love y’all ❤️🩹”
Dominik Mysterio will now defend his title against Dragon Lee at WWE NXT Deadline, as revealed by Rey Mysterio – you can see the clip below.
