Japan continues to be on the list of countries where WWE wants to gain more traction and another company is in their sights.
With WWE reportedly having interest in a number of Japanese wrestling stars, including Giulia and Kazuchika Okada, it appears that their interests is expanding.
Dave Meltzer has now revealed further details of WWE’s quest to improve its presence in Japan writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter:
“Besides the new deal working with All Japan, WWE has also expressed interest in working with Stardom.
“Nothing is finalized that we know of regarding that but WWE is confirmed interested.”
It was recently reported that WWE and All Japan may have a working relationship with an NXT star being teased for an upcoming AJPW show.
The name of that star was revealed when William Regal made his first on-screen appearance since returning to WWE, naming Charlie Dempsey as the star heading to All Japan.
Dempsey is, of course, William Regal’s own son and made his WWE debut in February 2021 on NXT UK.
Back in 2019, Triple H met with representatives from Stardom and Dragon Gate as part of the WWE Japan tour.
More recently, WWE allowed Shinsuke Nakamura to appear in Pro Wrestling NOAH as part of the Great Muta’s retirement tour in January 2023.
On December 12, 2023, Tokyo Sports announced that the Shinsuke Nakamura vs. The Great Muta match had won the outlet’s Best Bout Award.
