WWE is potentially planning another major match for World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns coming up soon.

It’s a relatively busy period for Reigns, as coming out of his win against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam, he’ll be defending his title on WWE Raw in Mexico City in September.

Then, a month after that, he’s set for October’s Money in the Bank premium live event where he’ll presumably have another title defense.

He’s also advertised for the Survivor Series WarGames event in late November, and now there’s yet another date seemingly added to his schedule as well.

PWInsider Elite reports that WWE is planning to hold its annual Crown Jewel this November, returning to its usual home of Saudi Arabia after it took place in Australia last year.

Notably, WWE’s plan is to run the Crown Jewel Championship matches again, which has been the case for the past couple of years, meaning the Women’s World Champion vs the WWE Women’s Champion, and the World Heavyweight Champion vs the Undisputed WWE Champion.

As things stand, that means the men’s Crown Jewel Championship match is set to be a WrestleMania 42 main event rematch between Roman Reigns and CM Punk.

Of course, that is dependent on both men not losing their titles before we get to Crown Jewel.

With that being the current plan, assuming plans don’t change, it means either Reigns will be in the Crown Jewel Title match, or he’ll be losing his title before then.

Reigns has never won the Crown Jewel Championship, with the previous winners being GUNTHER and Cody Rhodes.

As for the women, the previous champions are Liv Morgan and Stephanie Vaquer, with this year’s match set to be – as things stand – Liv Morgan vs either Rhea Ripley or Chelsea Green, depending on whether Ripley returns from her injury in time.

Has It Been A Good Year For Roman Reigns?

After a two-year gap without a championship in WWE, Roman Reigns has had title gold on his shoulder once again this year.

2025 may well go down as a bit of a miss – off the back of losing to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40 in 2024, Reigns pretty much found himself as the third part added to Seth Rollins and CM Punk’s feud for WrestleMania 41, and then feuded with The Vision including a loss to Bronson Reed.

This year though, he’s won the Royal Rumble, won the main event of WrestleMania, and has the Bloodline back alongside him – which is seen as a positive by some fans, but a negative by others.

The Bloodline has a weird dynamic this time around, as the group are supposed to be heels, but Reigns is still the most popular star on any show he’s on, and the Usos still get the crowd going with their entrance.

That makes it a lot tougher for the babyfaces they’re up against, but fortunately, LA Knight has continued to prove why he belongs at the top level, and Solo Sikoa has broken through as one of the most entertaining babyfaces in the company.

So, has it been a good year for Roman Reigns? It’s been better than last year, but it’s still been weird.

A lot will ride on all of the big matches he has coming up and whether he can deliver in the ring.
