Last week on Friday Night SmackDown, Chelsea Green appeared on the main roster for the first time since being called up from NXT way back in May. Unfortunately, she broke her wrist in her first match on the blue brand.
Dave Meltzer is reporting on the Wrestling Observer Radio that Chelsea Green was not supposed to be part of the show last week, and was called-up at the very last minute when a writer threw her name into the ring:
“Chelsea Green was not on that show, but she lives close and you know somehow, some way someone suggest to Vince or Bruce that Chelsea Green go over, and she’s there, and so Liv Morgan, when the show was originally written Liv Morgan was going to win a match to go to Survivor Series, and she ended up doing that.”
This certainly explains why there was some confusion regarding the match last week. Some sites reported that Chelsea Green was set to win the match before her injury, while others reported that Liv Morgan was always set to win.
It’s incredibly unfortunate that Chelsea Green has broken her wrist once again. The former TNA star suffered the same injury during her first set of NXT TV tapings. She likely won’t return for another three months.
