During an exclusive interview with WrestleTalk, former WWE referee Mike Chioda said that he had aspirations of working at the WWE Performance Center after retiring.
Mike Chioda was released from WWE in April 2020, but explained that he originally intended to start training referees at the WWE Performance Center once he stopped officiating matches:
“That was something I wanted to be involved with even more down at the PC afterwards, after I’d finished refereeing with WWE. There’s a ton of agents that run around that are agents to the wrestlers that were ex-wrestlers, and they’re all producers and stuff. Some of them are fantastic, some of them are just okay. A lot of producers in the business are unbelievable, Jamie Noble, John Laurinaitis, Michael Hayes, he’s got a phenomenal mind for the business, Pat Patterson. But there’s no referees to be a referee producer. I was going down to the PC when I was injured and we were going over tapes and video tapes with the NXT referees down there and so forth. I was training and getting worked on with my shoulder. All day when I was there at the PC, we were going over video and just doing things in the ring. And that’s what I was looking forward to doing after my career.”
