The Premier Lacrosse League saw a big boost in it’s financial backing recently, with both WWE and Kevin Durant investing in the sports league.
An article on Bloomberg states that the Chernin Group, who are an existing investor in the PLL, led the round, with founders Paul and Mike Rabil saying that the new infusion valued the company at twice the previous round in June 2021, but did not provide a specific figure.
The PLL is currently in it’s fourth season, and just signed a media rights deal with ESPN earlier this year, with the aim being to expand the brand and make a push for Lacrosse to feature at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
This isn’t the first sports based venture WWE have invested in, famously funding both the original and the rebirthed versions of the XFL, before The Rock took over.
