With WWE allowing Shinsuke Nakamura to face The Great Muta at Pro Wrestling NOAH’s The New Year, NOAH was concerned about how AEW would react.
The announcement, referred to as a “miracle” by Nakamura, became a talking point amongst many, especially given the situation between Karl Anderson and NJPW.
Now, more details of the arrangement between WWE and NOAH have emerged, with Wrestling Inc revealing that:
“It was Paul “Triple H” Levesque who contacted Noah to make sure the opportunity with Muta was still available, and it was Sonny Oono whom Noah reached out to regarding any issues.”
In the report, Oono is quoted as saying:
“Noah wanted to protect the newly developing relationship with AEW. I made sure they were no objections from various promotions.”
Referring to Great Muta’s appearance during AEW’s Grand Slam week, in which the Japanese wrestling legend saved Sting from an attack by The House of Black, Oono revealed:
“Sting joining together on Muta’s last event was a wish of Muta.
“I’m glad I could help make it possible!”
