Two rather interesting names have been working in producer roles in WWE over the past week.
Those names are the currently injured former United States Champion Robert Roode, who began working in the role last week, and former NWA Worlds Champion Nick Aldis, who also began as a producer on this week’s Raw show.
The two former TNA men were present at this week’s SmackDown show, and we now know what exactly they were up to on the show.
Per Fightful Select (subscription required), both men were indeed serving as producers for the show, with Nick Aldis shadowing Petey Williams for the Karrion Kross vs. AJ Styles match.
As for Roode, he shadowed Jamie Noble in producing some backstage segments, as well as the United States Championship match between Rey Mysterio and Austin Theory.
Rey ended up replacing Santos Escobar in the title match after Theory attacked Escobar backstage, taking him out of the match.
Per Fightful, there were reportedly some revisions made internally to keep Mysterio’s win a secret.
Austin Theory has since broken his silence on his championship loss, which you can see here.
