Major Matches Featuring AEW Stars Outside Of The Company

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has become known for their willingness to embrace the wider wrestling world.

Since the very beginning of the company, AEW has had strong partnerships with several different promotions from around the world.

Considering their relationships with New Japan Pro Wrestling, CMLL and more, there are chances for stars on the AEW roster to have massive matches in other promotions.

Here are eight major matches featuring AEW stars outside of the company.

8. Konosuke Takeshita vs. Shun Skywalker (NJPW Destruction in Kobe)

Since 2024, Konosuke Takeshita has become one of the cornerstones of the NJPW roster.

After breaking out in his first G1 Climax, Takeshita has won the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, the G1 35 tournament and is the current NJPW World TV Champion.

“The Alpha” recently found himself a new rival in the form of Shun Skywalker, who signed with NJPW after several years with Dragon Gate.

Joining with the House of Torture, Skywalker looks to win his first title in New Japan when he challenges Konosuke Takeshita for the NJPW World TV Title at the upcoming Destruction in Kobe event on September 27.

7. Gabe Kidd vs. Drilla Moloney (NJPW Destruction in Kobe)

Gabe Kidd first put his name on the map in New Japan Pro Wrestling as a member of the Bullet Club War Dogs.

However, Kidd alongside David Finlay and Clark Connors known as The Dogs made their way to All Elite Wrestling in 2026.

Despite signing with AEW, Kidd has remained a stalwart on the NJPW roster and won the IWGP Global Heavyweight Title in June.

After spending years together in the War Dogs, Kidd has started a personal rivalry with his former stablemate Drilla Moloney that will culminate in a title bout at NJPW Destruction in Kobe 2026.

6. Divine Dominion vs. Persephone & Olympia vs. Starlight Kid & Maika (CMLL 9/13 Arena Mexico show)

At AEW All In London 2026, The Brawling Birds defeat Divine Dominion to win the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championships.

After losing these titles, it does not seem like Megan Bayne and Lena Kross will be resting on their laurels.

Divine Dominion will make their way to Mexico for the upcoming CMLL event on September 13.

Bayne and Kross will face another AEW star Persephone and CMLL’s Olympia as well as the STARDOM duo of Maika and Starlight Kid in a three-way in less than two weeks.

5. Persephone vs. Mina Shirakawa vs. Starlight Kid vs. Tessa Blanchard (CMLL 93rd Anniversary)

Speaking of Persephone, the dual contracted star will be having a busy September.

One of the biggest major events of the year, CMLL 93rd Anniversary will feature plenty of representatives from All Elite Wrestling.

The new AEW TBS Champion will be defending her CMLL Women’s World Championship in a four way match on September 18.

Fellow AEW star Mina Shirakawa, STARDOM’s Starlight Kid and Tessa Blanchard will serve as Persephone’s challengers for this high stakes title clash at the 93rd Anniversario.

4. Bandido vs. Soberano Jr. (CMLL 93rd Anniversary)

At the CMLL Grand Prix event, Bandido and Soberano Jr. got into a highly physical and intense exchange.

In front of a raucous Arena Mexico crowd, Bandido and Soberano attempted to rip each other’s masks off, showing a firm hatred for one another.

While he is currently the reigning ROH World Champion, Bandido is a regular star featured on AEW TV.

After establishing their feud with one another, Bandido and Soberano might just have one of the most violent battles on the entire CMLL 93rd Anniversary on September 18.

3. Andrade El Idolo vs. Volador Jr. (CMLL 93rd Anniversary)

Speaking of the CMLL 93rd Anniversary, the event will also feature the return of Andrade El Idolo.

Making his first appearance in Arena Mexico in over three years, El Idolo will be one of the biggest stars on this special event.

Since returning to All Elite Wrestling in January, Andrade has become one of the most popular and biggest stars in the company.

Andrade will face his longtime rival Volador Jr. in his return to the company at the CMLL 93rd Anniversary.

2. Claudio Castagnoli vs. Hechicero vs. Zack Sabre Jr. (CMLL 93rd Anniversary)

Since 2025, Claudio Castagnoli has taken on a bigger role in CMLL over in Mexico.

The Death Riders member then defeated Hechicero to win the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship.

After signing a dual contract with CMLL and AEW, Castagnoli will be a huge part of the 93rd Anniversary show where he will face two men he’s familiar with.

The reigning CMLL World Heavyweight Champion Hechicero and top NJPW star Zack Sabre Jr. will be Claudio’s opposition in a three-way on September 18 from Arena Mexico.

1. Adam Copeland vs. Steve Maclin (MLP Northern Rising)

One of the most surprising AEW stars to be scheduled or announced for a match outside of the company is Adam Copeland.

After more than 25 years, Copeland will compete in his first independent wrestling match on October 3.

Copeland will appear for Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling at their biggest show of the year, Northern Rising from the Maple Leaf Gardens.

Former TNA World Champion Steve Maclin has stepped up to the plate to challenge Cope in a first time ever meeting at the highly anticipated MLP Northern Rising event.
