WWE
WWE has been busy with free agent signings in recent years that have helped to bolster the roster on the NXT brand.
On Sunday, August 30, WWE returns for another premium live event on The CW with NXT Heatwave 2026 from Edinburg, Texas.
Considering this show will receive a ton of attention going head-to-head with AEW All In London 2026, WWE NXT could put the spotlight directly on some new free agent signings by having them debut at the upcoming Heatwave 2026 event.
Here are eight potential free agent signings at WWE NXT Heatwave 2026.
8. Mike Santana

Mike Santana was last on WWE TV in March, when he and OTM defeated DarkState on NXT at The Theater in Madison Square Garden
At TNA Slammiversary 2026, Nic Nemeth defeated Mike Santana to win the TNA World Championship.
After losing this bout, it was reported that Santana was expected to leave TNA Wrestling with most expecting him to sign with WWE.
Through the working relationship with TNA, Santana was able to showcase his skills on WWE programming over the past year.
Santana signing with WWE could see him make his presence felt on the NXT brand with a massive arrival at the Heatwave 2026 premium live event on August 30.
7. Richard Holliday

Over the past year, Richard Holliday has become a name brought up on multiple occasions as a potential free agent signing for WWE.
After impressing management with his performance at tryouts, the independent wrestling star stood out thanks to his confidence, poise and experience.
Holliday has spent over a decade on the indies and has the knowledge that can make him a success story for WWE NXT.
Considering how he can help the young stars on the brand, having Richard Holliday debut at WWE NXT Heatwave 2026 would be beneficial to several members of the roster in a significant way.
6. Enzo Amore

Enzo Amore and Big Cass both departed WWE in 2018
Over the past few weeks, WWE has been airing some vignettes to hype the return of Big Cass.
Prior to these video packages airing on Monday Night Raw, fans believed Cass would return to WWE alongside his former tag team partner Enzo Amore.
After leaving the promotion eight years ago, it was recently revealed that Amore was seen backstage at the WWE Performance Center during a NXT TV taping.
Enzo heading to WWE NXT would be interesting to see what kind of veteran presence the former Cruiserweight Champion could offer the brand following the Heatwave 2026 show in Texas.
5. Myla Grace

Recently, there have been several notable names that have departed the TNA Wrestling roster over the past few months.
Among those stars who was granted their release from TNA is Myla Grace.
Having a look that fits what WWE is looking for, Grace can surprise those within the company with her ability and experience that makes her an enticing free agent signing.
Bringing Myla Grace into the company could open the door for the Irish wrestling standout to finally break through to the next level following WWE NXT Heatwave 2026.
4. Dani Luna

Another recent TNA Wrestling release saw Dani Luna decide to request and be granted her release from the company.
Signing with the promotion in 2023, Luna quickly established herself as one of the future stars of the TNA Knockouts division.
Despite being a two-time TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Champion, Luna was denied the opportunity to hold the top prize for the Knockouts division during her over two year run with the company.
Luna re-signing with WWE NXT would be intriguing and see her immediately solidified as one of the best female stars on the brand coming off the heels of Heatwave 2026.
3. Steve Maclin

TNA Wrestling officially announced Steve Maclin’s departure on June 7.
Since signing with TNA Wrestling in 2021, Steve Maclin established himself as one of the flag bearers for the company.
While he had a lesser role during his time on WWE NXT, Maclin came into TNA Wrestling on a mission to show the world that he had much more to offer and did just that.
Maclin now finds himself to be a free agent and will remain one of the best free agents on the market right now.
Considering he has experience in the promotion, WWE would be wise to acquire Maclin and bring in to use his knowledge to help enhance stars on NXT with a return at Heatwave 2026 on August 30.
2. Leon Slater

Another name on the TNA Wrestling roster who has made his mark on WWE NXT over the past year is Leon Slater.
Alongside Je’Von Evans, Slater became a representative of the future of the pro wrestling business and turned a ton of heads in the company.
With his exciting high flying style and likeable personality, “The Youngest In Charge” immediately felt like a no-brainer signing for WWE whenever he became available.
Wanting to bring one of the most sought after wrestlers on the market, the 21 year old Slater could quickly become the new face of NXT following a grand introduction on the Heatwave 2026 PLE.
1. Hiromu Takahashi

Ever since leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling earlier this year, there have been rumors swirling over WWE’s interest in Hiromu Takahashi.
During his 15-year run with NJPW, Takahashi etched his name among the greatest junior heavyweights of all time with five reigns as the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion and a record-breaking four wins in the Best of Super Juniors Tournament.
“The Ticking Time Bomb” feels like someone who could easily cement his spot on the WWE NXT roster if he were to sign.
With NARAKU now embroiled in a rivalry with Tony D’Angelo over the NXT Championship, Takahashi could give his former Los Ingobernables de Japon stablemate the edge to win the gold at WWE NXT Heatwave 2026.
