Popular AEW Name Considering Potential Retirement Match AEW

A popular AEW name has revealed that he is “open to a conversation” regarding a potential retirement match in the future.

Mark Henry, who has worked for AEW since mid-2021, has managed to keep himself away from the in-ring action, serving as an announcer on Rampage and a backstage coach.

However, in a recent appearance on Chris Van Viet’s Insight podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer was asked about the possibility of a retirement match, in which he revealed he had given it some thought, saying:

“You know what? I’ve thought about it, and every time I think about it, I think who? Who would be the person?

“I guess you could put up a poll someday and say, ‘Who would you like to see Mark Henry have his last match against?’

“You better do it fast because every day I wake up, I’m thinking I might have to just go put that to bed.”

Henry continued when asked about whether that match would take place in AEW:

“You know what? I have to think about it and I would have to start training and see how my body feels. I haven’t taken a bump in years. I’d be open to a conversation.”

Henry’s last official match came on April 27, 2018 in WWE’s 50-man Greatest Royal Rumble match from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with his final one-on-one match coming over a year prior when he lost to Braun Strowman on Raw in February 2017.

One of Henry’s former WWE rivals and current AEW colleagues Paul Wight also seemingly teased getting physical with a fellow member of the roster – to find out more, click here.
