Pitched Name For AJ Styles WWE Tag-Team Revealed

Dragon Lee has revealed his pitch for his and AJ Styles’ tag-team name, prior to Styles’ retirement earlier this year.

One of AJ Styles’ final in-ring alliances ever was with Dragon Lee, with the duo first teaming together in August 2025, and last sharing the ring together at house shows in early-January.

Recalling their WWE World Tag Team Championship win on the October 20, 2025 Raw episode, Dragon Lee said:

“Being a champion with him is another thing that really pushed me to the next level. I’m very grateful to him, because of what I learned from him in general.

“As a man, the way he is as a father, and when we became champions, that moment when we grab the titles. He just grabbed me like this and crossed the title, ‘Wake up, yes, we won.’ I was like, ‘What a moment.'”

This title win was AJ Styles’ last before his retirement in January, with Styles wrestling his final match against GUNTHER at Royal Rumble.

Dragon Lee noted that he felt honored to be part of Styles’ final run, before revealing his pitch for his and Styles’ tag-team name.

Noting that he had heard fans refer to him and Styles as “AJ Lee”, before revealing his own suggestion, Lee said:

“Yeah, AJ Lee, right? Yeah, it was fun. We didn’t have enough time to create a name, but I pitched this name, and I think it would have been so great, the Phenomenal Dragons.

“I feel like that name would be so great, Phenomenal Dragons. AJ Styles has his logo, I said this logo becomes kind of like a dragon, something we can do.

“I didn’t realize that he wouldn’t have enough time, he would be retired, nobody expected it.”

AJ Styles recently addressed his own retirement in a separate interview with Chris Van Vliet, during which he revealed that he questioned Triple H about the decision to have GUNTHER lose in the Royal Rumble match shortly after ending his career.
