UPDATE: It has now emerged that CM Punk reportedly “angrily and aggressively” confronted an AEW star backstage – click here for more.
The latest twist in the tale of Phil Brooks took place following last week’s AEW Collision show.
After the show, Punk took to the microphone, where he commented on a sign in the crowd saying ‘Hangman Country’, where he fired shots at Page ‘not selling figures’.
After the show, it was reported that Page was originally set to be in Greensboro for the show, but was sent away from the building to film the planned interview elsewhere.
While Punk did specifically request that Christopher Daniels and Ryan Nemeth be removed from Collision, it has not been reported if the situation was the same for Page and Matt Hardy, who were also sent away.
In an update on the situation from Nick Hausman of Haus of Wrestling, Punk’s comments about Hangman in the post-Collision promo did not come across how he would have liked them to, and he was said to have ‘felt bad’ about them afterward.
As of now, Punk and the Elite have not met up to bury the hatchet on their issues, but it sounds as though Punk is keeping the door open to that possibility.
