Former AEW Star Shawn Spears Breaks Silence After WWE Return

Former AEW star Shawn Spears has broken his silence after having returned to WWE on tonight’s episode of NXT.

While his surprise return saw him immediately use a chair to hit Ridge Holland, later in the episode he would explain his actions and also why he’s back in NXT.

Spears – who was repeatedly referred to by commentary as his AEW name Shawn Spears and not his former WWE name Tye Dillinger – said:

“I like Ridge Holland, but he’s been lying to himself for far too long. That jolt of pain that’s currently coursing through his body? It’s simply the truth.

That’s why I struck Ridge. The truth can bring you to your knees. And that’s why Shawn Spears is now in NXT. See you next week at Roadblock.”

Taking to Twitter shortly after, Spears wrote simply:

“I’m back”

Next week’s special edition of NXT called Roadblock is already set to have several big matches including the Kabuki Warriors (Kairi Sane and Asuka) dropping by to defend their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship against Tatum Paxley and Lyra Valkyria.

Also, Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin defend the NXT Tag Team Championship against Chase U, and a #1 contender’s match between Carmelo Hayes and Tony D’Angelo to determine who will challenge Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship at Stand & Deliver.
