Despite only just turning heel at AEW Double or Nothing (May 28), AEW already have plans in motion to get Konosuke Takeshita back to the side of light eventually.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW’s grand creative plan is ultimately to turn Takeshita face once more later down the line, hopefully becoming a massive star for the company in the process.
Meltzer revealed:
“The long-term plan is for Takeshita to be one of the biggest babyfaces in the company, the long-term.”

After a handful of non-televised matches on Dark and Dark Elevation, Takeshita first appeared on AEW TV in May 2022 in a defeat to Jay Lethal on Rampage.
However, Takeshita would officially join AEW in November 2022 and had been operating as a babyface until his shock turn at the aforementioned conclusion of the ‘Anarchy in the Arena’ match in Las Vegas.
Takeshita’s current allegiance with Don Callis has seen both men garner incredible heat from the live crowds the past two weeks of Dynamite, where they have persistently ran down current IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega.
However, it’s unclear when Takeshita will eventually clash with Omega, especially given the latter already confirmed to be defending his championship against Will Ospreay at Forbidden Door II on June 25.
Despite this, speculation has run rampant about Omega potentially returning with help from his ‘friends’ in Japan, with Kota Ibushi and Kazuchika Okada two names most wanted by AEW fans.
Before Forbidden Door II however is the debut of AEW Collision on June 17, where a massive main event for the debut will be taking place featuring the returning CM Punk, to find out more details click this link.
