A ‘Tribal Combat’ match between World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu is confirmed for WWE Clash In Italy 2026.

Reigns and Fatu have been engaged in a feud since Reigns won the World Title from CM Punk at WrestleMania, including a match at WWE Backlash.

Reigns won their match at Backlash and retained the title, but Fatu laid him out post-match and stood tall with the title belt.

After that, WWE Raw General Manager Adam Pearce wanted to fire Fatu, but Reigns essentially prevented him from doing so because he wanted to handle things his own way.

That resulted in Fatu laying out Reigns and The Usos at the end of last week’s Raw.

To kick off tonight’s episode, Fatu headed to the ring and called out Reigns but was answered by The Usos.

When a brawl broke out, Reigns came out too, and the three-on-one advantage was enough for them to get the better of Fatu on this occasion.

However, as they were leaving, Fatu got on the mic and challenge Reigns to a Tribal Combat match, which Reigns then accepted.

Michael Cole on commentary then said the match would take place at WWE Clash In Italy 2026.

Tribal Combat is essentially just a no DQ match but specifically feature Bloodline members with the losing having to acknowledge the winner as their Tribal Chief.

The two previous Tribal Combat matches that have taken place have seen Reigns defeat Jey Uso at SummerSlam 2023, and Reigns defeat Solo Sikoa on the Raw Netflix premiere in early January 2025.

The other top title match at Clash In Italy will see Cody Rhodes defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against GUNTHER, and it seems a lot more likely a title change will take place there with GUNTHER winning than in the Reigns vs Fatu match.

Ultimately, the best move would probably be for Reigns to retain and head towards a big time title defense at SummerSlam in August, though WWE would have to make sure to protect Fatu in defeat somehow.
