It has emerged that an international star could be on his way to signing with WWE, a move that is currently “strongly rumored.”

In early January, NJPW held its biggest annual show, Wrestle Kingdom, which saw debuting Olympic gold medalist Aaron Wolf defeat EVIL for the NEVER Openweight Championship.

EVIL has continued to work for NJPW since then, but his time with the promotion could be coming to an end and a move to WWE could be happening soon.

On today’s Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez reported:

“By the way, EVIL might be on his way out of New Japan, and it is strongly rumored that he is on his way to WWE.

“Of course, Tony Khan doesn’t like EVIL. Remember that weird story that came out? I always love weird stories that are so oddly specific. ‘Tony Khan doesn’t like EVIL.’

“It’s like, what do you mean you don’t like EVIL? Don’t be a mark. The guy can work. He just does those House of Torture matches. You don’t have to let him.”

Former IWGP Heavyweight Champion EVIL hasn’t been involved in any AEW crossovers throughout the years that the promotions have been partnered, and as mentioned, it’s believed that Tony Khan isn’t a fan of him.

WWE has reportedly had interest in a number of other NJPW stars in recent weeks, including the Knock Out Brothers and David Finlay.
